Hi there!
My name is Landy. I’m a proud island gyal hailing from Haiti.
I have a background Architecture & Design and Urban Planning but I’ve also worked in adjacent fields including Interior Design, Urban Design, Civic Engagement and Policy Research. Outside of all of that, I love spending time with my faves, going on adventures, trying new foods and doing just a bunch of things that allow me to express myself creatively.
My earliest memory of exploring creativity was in Haiti, on this gigantic chalkboard we had on our galri (porch). As a kid, I would stand in front of the chalkboard and draw for hours until the whole surface was covered. One of my favorite themes was cities. A little home would evolve into an entire functional city, with every component thoughtfully decided and placed. These cities even included street scenarios with little figures; a dad walking her daughter to school, a boy riding a bike down one street, an outdoor market bustling with vendors and shoppers down the other. Looking back, I realized that I was an Urban Planner before I knew Urban Planning was.
These days, I’m still deeply fascinated by design, creativity and self-expression and the way they can open paths to healing, help us find solutions to our challenges, build community and inspire continual growth. This blog is a re-creation of the gigantic chalkboard for the little girl on the galri, who was curious, had a thirst to explore, live and loved to imagine. It’s the place I share the creatives ideas running through my mind constantly…and hopefully for you, an inspiration to explore your own multidimensional creative abilities 🙂
Thank you for visiting! Say hello!
